Earlier this year Spirit made headlines after Deepika Padukone exited the project following disagreements over working hours. Her unexpected exit stirred considerable buzz, raising questions about the film’s casting and production dynamics. Amid continued speculation surrounding Deepika Padukone’s reported exit from Spirit over scheduling conflicts, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga remains committed to pushing ahead with the film.

Brushing aside the controversy, Vanga has confirmed that production on the much-anticipated project—starring Prabhas and Triptii Dimri—is set to begin in September, marking a fresh chapter for the film after early setbacks.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga Set to Begin Shooting Spirit This September

During a recent conversation with Vijay Deverakonda and filmmaker Gowtam Tinnanuri on the Sithara Entertainments YouTube channel, Sandeep Reddy Vanga shared a key update on Spirit.

He revealed that the film will follow an intense production schedule, featuring back-to-back shoots and a non-stop shooting plan once it officially goes on floors. The director’s focused approach signals a determined effort to deliver the Prabhas and Triptii Dimri-starrer without further delays.

Earlier this year, Spirit was thrust into the spotlight when Deepika Padukone reportedly exited the project due to disagreements over working hours and compensation.

The situation escalated when director Sandeep Reddy Vanga posted a pointed message on X (formerly Twitter), seemingly aimed at Deepika. While he didn’t name anyone directly, his scathing remarks about “dirty PR games” and attempts to “put down a younger actor” were widely interpreted as a response to her departure and the surrounding narrative.

The controversy added an unexpected layer of drama to the film’s pre-production phase

Sandeep Reddy Vanga Breaks Silence on Prabhas, after Deepika Padukone’s exit from Spirit, the makers quickly roped in Triptii Dimri as the new female lead opposite Prabhas. The casting shift appears to have breathed new life into the project, with momentum picking up on multiple fronts.

According to reports, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has already completed the film’s music compositions alongside composer Harshavardhan Rameshwar, signaling that pre-production is firmly on track ahead of the September shoot.

With key creative elements in place, Spirit is now gearing up for a September production start. In an earlier conversation with Baradwaj Rangan on the Galatta Plus YouTube channel, Sandeep Reddy Vanga addressed the financial expectations surrounding Spirit and his outlook on box office pressure.

When asked about the economics of mounting a big-budget film, the director expressed confidence, stating that with a combination like Prabhas and himself, the producers are in a secure position. He explained that the recovery through satellite and digital rights alone would cover a significant portion of the investment.

Emphasizing the film’s massive potential, he added that if the teaser, trailer, and songs strike the right chord, Spirit could open to a staggering ₹150 crore on day one globally—calling it a realistic trade calculation for a project of this scale.
