All About Kantara Chapter 1: Cast, Story, and Cultural Legacy

Rishab Shetty who directs and stars in Kantara Chapter 1, rose to nationwide fame with the original Kantara, released in 2022. The film became a massive success, with Rishab earning the National Award for Best Actor for his powerful performance.

Made on a modest budget of ₹16 crore, Kantara went on to gross over ₹400 crore worldwide, according to PTI, solidifying its place as a cultural and box-office phenomenon.

Kantara was set in the fictional village of Dakshina Kannada and revolved around Rishab Shetty’s character, a Kambala champion who finds himself in conflict with an upright Forest Range Officer.

The film depicted the lives of a small community living in the dense woodlands of Kaadubettu, capturing the deep-rooted cultural and spiritual beliefs of the region. Kantara Chapter 1, a prequel to the original story, is scheduled to release in theatres on October 2.
